Style Tut for WarCraft Font by TrueLovePrevails Style Tut for WarCraft Font by TrueLovePrevails
This is for the program ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, from 7 to CS4. My first tutorial ever but I believe I have the format good. It might need a lightening layer of white at 5-25% opacity underneath the color balance to pretty much match the font side by side with an actual picture of the warcraft/world of warcraft title, but otherwise it should be alright. Its not perfect but it looks good enough, not some pieced together thing from the original by cutting and pasting but you can suit this for any needs.

****NOTE: Tutorial has been amended as of 8/14/08. The first duplicate layer is to have 0% fill. If not you will have fluorescent text. Thanks for bringing this to my attention Roy a.k.a Geexxor.****

9/6/06: sorry but the tutorial needs another amendation. the character tab settings should be LifeCraft font at 72pt. depending on the word you use you could adjust the kerning.

Were youn talking about the font or the effect?

The font is a heavily modified version of Fritz Quadrata: [link]

As for the effect it would be rather simple.

I've been looking for a good font for the word "World" in the WoW logo... It's definitely a serif font similar to Times New Roman, but it's slightly different. Since you're into fonts I thought you might know what font it is.

"Burning Wrath" works well for the expansion pack titles, although the "L" is definitely from "Lich" and not from "Cataclysm". [link]

first layers opacity needs to go to 100 (as well as fill), 2nd and third layers fills need to go to 0 while maintaining 100 opacity.

opacity effects the whole layer, fill only effects the layer and not the effects.

In a completely unrelated sidenote, I'm still way to tired to type something. Please disregard those spelling mistakes >.<

what do you mean? Which version are you using? It should be the half black half white circle next to th new group/folder icon at the bottom of the layers panel.

Not coming out right at all for me, I did exactly everything as you say, though I had to devise my own way to do the "ctrl+click the T" step since you didn't specific which layer copy and it did nothing for me.

any ideas?

did you turn the fill (underneath opacity) down to 0% on warcraft 1 and 2? Also it looks as if the size of your text is probably smaller then specified.

yes, copy1 and copy2 have 0% fill. And the size is 72 (max)

let me see your psd. The font needs to be 312 pt (you can type it in) and I believe your color balance layer needs to be inverted. If you rescale it you'll need to make the mask again. Just click ctrl+T on the text, select the color balance layer, and press the create layer mask button. If the thumbnail of the mask shows a white background with black letters click on the mask and press ctrl+I. Once youve made it right you can put them all in a group and scale the group. It should scale all the styles and effects.

Thanks! it was the invert part that made it work. Now the thumbnail is black background white text and the image is all gold and shiny.

none of the ctrl clicking ever did anything no matter what i did. I had to magic select the white and Select All just to make the color balance layer mask
